Patterson Cottage

Patterson Cottage is a much loved Circa 1890s stone cottage located in central Naracoorte near the Coonawarra wine district, where wineries are plentiful. It is also home to the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves, once a predator-den, containing the skeletons of Australian megafauna dating back 500,000 years.

The Cottage Renovations

The Cottage was purchased in June 2021 and required a lot of love and attention in order to preserve this beautiful home that is full of charm and character. The cottage is now fitted out as a 3 bedroom home with 2 living areas plus library and office.

All reservation income goes back into further restoration and improvements of this lovely old home.

The Cottage currently has the following rooms and facilities

Bathroom

A modern Bathroom with both rain head and hand held options that can be used simultaneously

Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom has a modern Luxury feel and exudes ambiance, bedside tables with USB connections available. This is currently equipped with an electric heater in the fireplace area. Music through the google nest speakers throughout the cottage helps create that romantic feel.

Kitchen

The Kitchen has had a recent make-over and includes mostly new appliances. Modern farmhouse style sink, dishwasher, full size fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, toasting iron, kettle and espresso pod coffee machine.

The Kitchen also has an easily accessible supply of glassware for your convenience.

Family Room

The Main Family Living area has a wood heater and new large split system reverse cycle air-conditioner that can also heat and cool the kitchen, library and main bedroom if required. Free unlimited Wifi is also available for your use.

Laundry

The Laundry has been completely renovated and consists of a new washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board and farmhouse sink

Library

The Library is situated between the family room and main bedroom and doubles as a sitting room. This is equipped with an array of reading materials and games.

Rear Living Area

The rear living area allows you room to spread your wings and encompasses a large table with seating and some comfortable chairs with french doors opening up to the rear garden. Another great place to play boardgames or read a book.

Front Sitting Area

The front yard has a sitting area to have an afternoon wine while sheltered under the canopy of the enormous red flowering gum.

Red Flowering Gum

The front yard has an enormous red flowering gum that we have been advised is the 2nd most renowned of its species in South Australia. You may be lucky enough to see it in full flower.

The Cottage

Our understanding is the cottage was built in at least 3 stages with the original dwelling being only the 2 front rooms (Now the main bedroom and library) with its pre-sash windows and obscure glass. The family room, kitchen and other bedrooms added either late 1890s or early 1900s.
